The citizens knew, the Church knew, the cultural elite knew what the trains leaving from platform 17 of the Porta Nuova Station were filled with, who they were filled with, heading to the concentration camps. How could humanity abdicate its own humanity consciously? How is it possible that, even today, thousands of people support policies of horror and become the operational arm of organized violence? This invisible manipulative mechanism has a name, it is called “Overton Window” and it is the typical scheme of dictatorships, with entire peoples thinking in exactly the same way only to find themselves ultimately locked in a cave of imprisonment and terror: it happened with thehorror of the extermination camps and it happens still. The perfection of this mechanism lies in its invisible functioning: we are manipulated without even realizing it. Let’s discover together how it happens.
